It was a sunny blue skied day in June and it was a day of anticipation, we were going to meet our new friend Dolores. Brandon had a past fondness for this little brown brow bundle of bull terrier, he was most excited for a wish to be coming true. Joy was all around us.

We were in a pandemic so it was a very socially distanced and masked drop off visit with our long time friend and dog breeder Ann. Brandon had fell in love with Dolores as a pup after the death of our Agnes and thought she would be a lovely addition to our family. I was however terribly unwell in a horribly painful low point of navigating ME and Fibromyalgia with no support. Dolores must have been fated to us as when my health was in a stable place many months later and I was learning to live a new life, she crossed our path again.
Dolores and Fionny became fast friends and the smile that was absent from our boy since the sudden horrific death of his best friend and life long mate Declan returned once more. Dolores quickly became his new sidekick and now he was teaching this youngling a thing or two about life in our home. She was a quick learner and in no time fit into our family as though she had always been part of our nest. In many ways Declan was my therapy dog and Dolores had some big boy booties to fill. She has proved she was up the challenge and more, this little devoted girl takes very good care of me all of the time.
Today we celebrate Dolores 2nd birthday with much gratitude. She will receive special yummy homemade treats, pink presents and lots of joy and all of this will be documented with photographs, as this is our way. Brandon, Fionny and I look forward to many more birthdays with this delightfully darling dog called Dolores.

Dogs are such pack animals and those that have lived with another dog before seem to really enjoy a “friend”. It great that Dolores has worked out so well!

They are indeed pack animals, poor Fionny was depressed and lost. Now he is whole and living a new life with Dolores.
